New America

For Including A Gender Perspective In Mainstream Media

Overview
This grant will employ journalism to increase public understanding of and commitment to women’s economic empowerment, presenting research and data to thought leaders and broad audiences to drive policy and cultural change by bringing to life the stories behind the data. The New America Foundation will create a survey for international policymakers and economists to learn which news sources inform their policymaking, and will make use of data and research from grantees to produce a series of articles highlighting the economic value of women’s unpaid work. Through compelling storytelling the New America Foundation aims to deepen understanding of the gendered dynamics of global economic policies.
