Overview
Peninsula Ballet Theatre is the second oldest continuously operating ballet company in the region, and is entering a period of transition as it seeks to rebalance its education and performance offerings. Acquisition of a long-term lease on a 30,000-square-foot facility in San Mateo in 2010 has provided adequate space to expand its classes beyond ballet to include other dance genres and musical theater, teaching more than 1,500 children, youth, and adults. An ongoing commitment to public performances, particularly of its annual showcase, The Nutcracker, is the focus of its new artistic director. This grant would allow the organization to stabilize its programming and staffing while it continues to offer excellent arts experiences in the community.

Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
Peninsula Ballet Theater (PBT) is the second oldest continuously operating ballet company in the region, providing family-friendly ballet performances for more than 8,000 audience members. In 2010, PBT entered a long-term lease for a 30,000 square foot facility in downtown San Mateo to house its new ballet school, which will engage all ages with dance classes, performances, and summer camps. Renewed support would provide PBT with resources to underpin the organization during the early years of its Conservatory of Dance.
