Overview
This renewal grant continues support for Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s ongoing work to deepen and accelerate decarbonization of China’s power sector. The research will provide strong scientific evidence that China does not need any more fossil fuel (particularly ~200 GW of proposed coal), and can meet reliability obligations at a provincial level with all new clean generation capacity, drawing a pathway for China to phase down most coal well ahead of its net-zero target.
