Overview
This grant to Stanford University will support the creation of a comprehensive linked panel, which will be built as part of the Data Linkage Infrastructure program within the Census Bureau. It will be done in three sections: (a) discussions on the technical steps that need to be completed to build out the tax side of this infrastructure; (b) identification of the various uses of the new panel; and (c) a layout of the costs. In building the country’s first comprehensive linked panel, merging data from censuses, tax records, schools, and other administrative sources, the capacity for research and evidence-based policy would be made possible. The panel will improve capacity to examine labor market processes, long-run program effects, and intergenerational program effects, among other important trends.
