The Colorado Department of Education—which provides leadership, resources, and support for Colorado’s schools, districts, and teachers—will work with educators from across the state to collaboratively develop standards-based literacy performance assessments. The proposed performance assessments will provide districts with an authentic assessment option for students to demonstrate graduation readiness and will serve as an opportunity for students to engage in and reveal deeper learning. These efforts support the Department and the Hewlett Foundation’s goals by providing support and guidance to schools and districts that help students apply both academic content and skills that are essential for post-graduation success.
