Overview
In recognition of the Hewlett Foundation’s 50th anniversary, the Hewlett 50 Arts Commissions initiative supports the creation and premiere of 50 exceptional works of performing arts. PolicyLink’s "We, the 100 Million" is a poetry and theater project that brings together poet Michael "Quess" Moore and other poets to work with residents of Oakland, New Orleans, Chicago, and Appalachia to create poems that address the challenges, resilience, and aspirations of the roughly 100 million Americans living below the federal poverty line. This supplemental grant will support PolicyLink in developing video and multimedia elements for an online presentation of "We, the 100 Million," given restrictions on public gatherings due to COVID-19. This grant advances the Hewlett 50 Arts Commissions initiative.
