Overview
This renewal grant to the Partnership to Cut Hunger and Poverty in Africa at Michigan State University ("the Partnership") will provide continued support for its efforts to reduce hunger and poverty in Africa through research, strategic partnerships, and focused communication and outreach activities to promote sustainable, Africa-led, agriculture-based economic activity in rural sub-Saharan Africa. The grant funding will be used in support of the Partnership’s planned program of work which will focus on: i. sustaining the U.S. government’s commitment to demand-driven agricultural investments in Africa; ii. promoting policies, structures and systems that will encourage business investment in African agriculture; and iii. supporting capacity-building for African civil society organizations, tertiary institutions and the private sector.

for a network improvement community that prepares teachers to focus on racial equity
The Department of Teacher Education at Michigan State University prepares pre-service and in-service teachers through nationally recognized elementary and secondary undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The department’s programs prepare future teachers and teacher educators to become leading scholars and practitioners who deeply understand and work to improve education in its political, social, and cultural contexts. This project will support a network improvement community with Minnesota State University, Mankato; Cleveland State University; and California State University, Dominguez Hills, that seeks to strengthen teacher education through a shared commitment to racial equity.
