Grants to this Grantee
for a Brazilian-Argentine commission to assess possible shifts in nuclear policies
As the premier organization in Latin America working on nuclear weapons policy, NPSGlobal brings a wealth of experience and perspective to the Nuclear Security Initiative’s effort to engage emerging power nations in the global nonproliferation regime. Over the next two years NPSGlobal plans to synthesize the positions of policymakers from Latin America and other non-aligned states in advance of the 2015 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference to increase the likelihood of a constructive outcome of that important meeting. In addition, NPSGlobal will promote changes to the Brazilian-Argentine Agency for Accounting and Control of Nuclear Materials to decision makers in Brazil and Argentina. The issue of Brazil and Argentina’s inspection regime, separate from the IAEA program, has been a major stumbling block in gaining support for nonproliferation among non-nuclear weapons states.
