Jesse Chu

Program Operations Manager, Gender Equity and Governance Program

Jesse Chu is the Program Operations Manager for the Gender Equity and Governance (GEG) Program at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. She works closely with the Program Director to facilitate collaboration within the GEG team, manage priorities that cut across the program’s five strategies, strengthen internal communications, process grants, assist strategic planning and budgeting, and support learning and evaluation.

Prior to joining the foundation, Jesse was the Senior Program Manager at Fistula Foundation, a nonprofit that funds surgery to treat devastating childbirth injuries in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. At Fistula Foundation, Jesse co-managed over $12 million in grants awarded to more than 70 hospitals and implementation partners in 28 countries. Before that, she led projects to further youth reproductive health education and empowerment in Ethiopia for two years as a community health volunteer with the Peace Corps.

Jesse holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in international studies from American University. She is conversational in Spanish and German.
