Irene Hong
Irene Hong is Counsel at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. She provides legal support for the programmatic work of the foundation’s Environment Program. Additionally, she is responsible for managing legal issues for the foundation’s communications team.
Before joining the foundation, Irene was an associate attorney at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, where she advised tax-exempt organizations and other entities operating in the philanthropic sector. Prior to that, Irene was an associate attorney at DLA Piper LLP, where she focused her practice on international corporate tax planning and controversy matters.
Irene is a Bay Area native with a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in social policy from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice, and a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. She is a member of the Bar in California, New York, and the District of Columbia. Active in professional organizations, Irene serves in leadership roles with the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area and Asian Alumni of Penn Carey Law.
