Prior to Hewlett, Ashley was in a similar role at Transportation Alternatives, a nonprofit that advocates for better bicycling, walking, and public transit in New York City, where she helped manage their social media accounts, maintain the website, and launch a member newsletter that now has 100,000 subscribers.

She graduated from New York University in 2019 with a degree in communications and a double minor in sociology and graphic design. While in school, she was an intern with the Office of Hillary Clinton, a communications assistant for NYU Law’s Center for Human Rights and Global Justice, and had communications internships with the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition and the Japanese American Museum of San Jose.
