Environment Program Officer Danielle Deane, who managed grantmaking to build broad-based support for the Program’s land, water, and energy goals, left the Foundation at the end of her eight-year term in February. Danielle was instrumental in developing and funding innovative strategies for engaging health care, business, labor, faith, Latino, and environmental justice leaders in efforts to clean up California’s air. She understood the complex environment in which policy decisions are made and how to assist small organizations in growing to reach their full potential. In 2010, Danielle began taking the lessons learned in her California work to other western states.
