The Foundation welcomes Helena Choi as a new officer in the Population Program. She replaces Tamara C. Fox, whose eight-year term ended in 2009. Choi, an expert in health policy issues in the developing world, comes to the Foundation from the Open Society Institute in New York City, where for the past five years she served as a program officer with the Institute’s Public Health Watch project.

In her work at the Hewlett Foundation, Choi will focus mainly on grantmaking for research that explores the relationships among population dynamics, reproductive health, and economic growth in sub-Saharan Africa to provide evidence that meeting the reproductive health needs of women and girls will enhance their well-being and alleviate poverty.
