MENLO PARK, Calif. – The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation announced today that Kristy Bernard Tsadick, an expert in tax law, corporate governance, and ethics, with broad experience in the nonprofit sector, will join the Foundation as associate general counsel.
Tsadick was most recently legal counsel for the Council on Foundations in the Washington, D.C. suburb of Arlington, VA, a nonprofit membership organization of 1,700 grantmaking foundations and corporations. She advised the organization and its member foundations on a wide range of issues that included tax law compliance, advocacy, and lobbying.
Before joining the Council, Tsadick was an associate with the firm of Caplin & Drysdale in Washington, D.C., where her practice focused on compliance with state and federal lobbying regulations and ethics rules. Previously, she was an associate attorney at the Washington, D.C.-based law firm of Winston & Strawn.
At the Hewlett Foundation, she will act as lead counsel to the Grants Management and program teams to ensure compliance with all relevant state, federal, and international laws that govern charitable contributions. She will also assist in staff training. Tsadick begins work at the Foundation September 3.

Tsadick has a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University, where she was a dual English and government major. She received her law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center.
