MENLO PARK, Calif. – The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation announced the hire of Jean A. McCall, who has more than 20 years of experience in consulting and executive management, as the Foundation’s new Director of Human Resources.

In this position, McCall will oversee all key functions of the Foundation’s Human Resources Department, including benefits and compensation, employee relations, training and development, and workforce planning and employment.  As the Foundation’s chief “people officer,” McCall will also serve as an advisor and problem solver to all levels of management and staff, and along with other senior leadership, help make critical assessments and decisions about staffing and employment at the Foundation.  McCall reports to Hewlett Foundation Vice President Susan Bell.

“The vast experience Jean brings will help strengthen not only our human resources operations, but the Foundation’s overall effectiveness,” said Foundation President Paul Brest. “We are delighted that she has agreed to join our staff.”

McCall joins the Hewlett Foundation after eight years as Vice President and Director of Human Resources at Parsons Brinckerhoff Quade and Douglas, Inc., the domestic design division of Parsons Brinckerhoff, a $1 billion global consulting and engineering firm based in New York.  There she was responsible for oversight of all human resources activities for 3,000 employees in 80 offices across the country.  McCall managed a team of senior-level human resources professionals, created and implemented a succession planning program for senior managers, and was a member of the company’s CEO-appointed Strategic Planning Core Advisory Group, which is helping develop the firm’s five-year strategic plan.

McCall began working at Parsons Brinckerhoff Quade and Douglas in 1985, and also served for nearly a decade as the company’s San Francisco-based Human Resources Manager overseeing human resources operations throughout the western United States.

McCall received a BA from the University of Montana.
