Yerba Buena Arts and Events presents free outdoor artistic and cultural programs that enliven Yerba Buena Gardens and other public open spaces in San Francisco. The organization serves more than 47,000 people each year with over 80 presentations of music, theater, dance, and spoken word, and with programs for children, which reflect the Bay Area’s rich cultural diversity, traditions, and creativity. It also supports the professional development of artists by commissioning new works and co-presenting in partnership with local nonprofit organizations. Support for Yerba Buena Arts and Events aligns with the Performing Arts Program’s Communities strategy.

Its free outdoor cultural programs from May to October reach a diverse audience of 120,000 people. Performances include spoken word, jazz, world music, theater, and dance. The organization commissions new work and helps local emerging artists and companies develop new audiences. With its strong leadership and prudent financial management, Yerba Buena Arts and Events would use this renewed support to advance its mission of providing high-quality artistic experiences free of charge to large public audiences.
