Overview
The World Trade Center Performing Arts Center (The Perelman) will be a unique public space in New York for artists and performers. It will provide flexible theaters that can be configured in different sizes and shapes, capable of shifting from round to proscenium to thrust configurations with ease. It fills a major gap in the creative community of Lower Manhattan and is one of the few venues to showcase the full spectrum of performing arts — theater, dance, music, opera, and genre-blending works including film and other cutting-edge technologies — with new commissions created specifically for the center. During the grant term, the center will design and construct this space, with an opening date of 2020-21.
