Grants to this Grantee
for the Culture Change Fund
This grant is part of the Culture Change Collaborative, which aims to transform gender justice by changing how the public thinks about a range of interconnected issues, including abortion, contraception, maternal health, economic security, sexual assault, and gender justice. This grant will support culture and narrative change work in Michigan and Georgia, two states that have significant numbers of people who have nuanced views related to gender justice and where work to shift framing and views on a range of issues has the potential to make a meaningful impact. (Strategy: U.S. Reproductive Equity)
for support of the Women's Policy Institute's Environmental Health and Justice team
The Women's Foundation of California runs a Women's Policy Institute that includes training of an environmental health and policy team. This year, all of the environmental health and policy team fellows are from the California Environmental Justice Alliance--a Hewlett Building Broad Support grantee. The Policy Institute will hold a year-long training program to meet the following objectives: -increase capacity of key leadership in the California environmental health and justice movement to be effective advocates in state legislative and regulatory policy processes -Increase awareness amongst policymakers of the environmental problems and solutions facing California's most vulnerable populations -strengthen the field of environmental health and justice and other allied movements
for a regranting program as part of the Community Leadership Project
A grant to the Women's Foundation (San Francisco, CA) would allow the organization to make grants for general operating support to ten organizations in the Central Coast and San Joaquin Valley that work to improve the health and economic security of low-income families and communities of color. In its selection process, the Women's Foundation will prioritize organizations that address inequities in reproductive and environmental health. In the second year of the grant, grantees will receive funds for strategic one-on-one organizational development. The Population Program currently supports the Women's Foundation's Reproductive Justice and Sexual Rights Program. (New, $202,307, 40% project budget)
