Overview
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the accreditor for 161 four-year institutions in California and Hawaii, proposes to work with its members to redesign its accrediting process using a new national framework of student learning outcomes. The approach defines what students should know and be able to do once they have earned an associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree. The Degree Qualifications Profile, which describes how students are expected to perform at progressively more challenging levels, emphasizes deeper learning skills.
