West Bay Opera is the second-oldest opera company in California. Since 2005, it has annually produced a season of three productions with twelve performances at the Lucie Stern Community Theatre in Palo Alto for an audience of more than 4,000. In addition to attracting, nurturing, and featuring local artistic talent, West Bay Opera provides a major opportunity for community involvement through its volunteer chorus. The company has successfully created a hybrid program, mixing amateur talent with the high production standards of seasoned directors, conductors, and designers. Through its Opera in the Schools program, the organization reaches more than 20,000 K-12 students in fifty schools throughout the Peninsula each year. With renewed support, West Bay Opera plans to increase outreach to Asian and Latino communities, continue its educational programming, and build its base of support among local corporations.
