Overview
The Center for High Impact Philanthropy was born out of a collaboration between alumni of the Wharton School of Business and the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice. It seeks to bring the best analytical techniques from business—appropriately adopted to the complexities of the nonprofit sector—to help inform donor decision making. The Center has conducted deep analysis of issues from education reform in the United States to malaria to disaster response. Most of its analysis is in the form of long, detailed reports, and it is working to ensure that its data will be more easily shared through online platforms like GuideStar.

for a landscape scan and analysis of teacher pre-service education programs and the teaching workforce
The University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education partners with schools, universities, and communities to expand educational access – especially for those underserved by society. In the wake of the pandemic, the teaching profession is facing a profound set of challenges in both recruiting and retaining teachers. Given the crucial role of teachers in supporting student academic and social-emotional development, efforts to rethink how we best recruit, prepare, and retain public school teachers are of paramount importance. This grant will support research to provide a landscape analysis of the current state of the teaching profession with the goal of formulating recommendations around preparing, recruiting, and retaining teachers who can empower and equip each and every student to reach their full potential and contribute to our diverse, multiracial society. The Wharton Initiative on Financial Policy and Regulation at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania organizes the efforts of business scholars — at Wharton and beyond — who are interested in creating knowledge at the intersection of law, finance, and public policy. Through commissioned white papers, academic conferences, dialogues with policymakers, and student-run organizations, the initiative works to put the business school’s traditional strengths in finance into a richer intersection with the policy discourse aimed at improving society.
