Grants to this Grantee
for the Physics Education Technology Project (PhET) and research on measuring deeper learning
The Physics Education Technology (PhET) project is an ongoing effort by Nobel Prize winner Carl Wieman to make a suite of simulations for teaching and learning physics, chemistry, biology, and math openly available from the PhET website and easy to incorporate into classrooms. PhET has developed more than 100 simulations that are run over 20 million times a year. This project will advance the development of online simulations and associated activities for teaching middle school math that are based on research and aligned to the Common Core State Standards. Part of this grant would also support research on the possibility of using these simulations to assess deeper learning skills, including metacognition, critical thinking, and problem solving.
