An international market for green bonds exists and is growing, with annual issuance reaching $160 billion globally in 2017, including over $10 billion in the United States. As the green bond market grows, it can support quantifiable progress towards meeting the Paris Agreement. The California Green Bond Market Development Committee serves as a forum to promote and expand the green bond market in California and to exchange information on best practices with green bond organizations in other states and nations.
