Overview
This grant will enable the Mobilizing Activists around Medical Abortion (MAMA) Network to support its national members to share and learn best practices in self-managed abortion and activist organizing at the community level. The MAMA Network is a movement of African grassroots activists and feminist groups that work directly with women in communities to increase access to self-managed abortion through trainings, information hotlines, and community mobilization. During the grant period, the MAMA Network aims to deepen its work guided by the goals and outcomes outlined in its new strategic plan. (Strategy: Global Reproductive Equity)

Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
As a leading African feminist organization, Trust for Indigenous Culture and Health (TICAH) works to ensure women and girls have access to high-quality, comprehensive sexual and reproductive health information and services, including contraception and safe abortion. Through its Our Bodies, Our Choices program, TICAH builds the agency and ownership of communities to identify and realize their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) needs, and works with marginalized populations as equal partners in achieving SRHR and social inclusion. TICAH will implement a new strategic plan, capitalizing on its Culture-Art-Health framework to bring attention to gender justice and how “choice” is understood, acted upon, and reflected in SRHR services and policies throughout Kenya. (Strategy: Global Reproductive Equity)
for support of leadership and organizational development
This organizational effectiveness grant will support Trust for Indigenous Culture and Health (TICAH) to invest in leadership development as an essential resource in successfully implementing its new strategy. Specifically, the funding will allow TICAH to build team cohesion and establish a shared humane leadership approach that clarifies each team member's strategic goals and responsibilities.
