Grants to this Grantee
for Bay Area Cultural Funders for Equity CAF
Fiscally sponsored by Tides Foundation, the Bay Area Cultural Funders for Equity Collective Action Fund is a funder collaborative committed to amplifying the voices, power, arts, and cultures of people of color and other vulnerable communities in the Bay Area, particularly those living at or near poverty. Focused on advancing equitable community well-being, the collaborative members include public funders; independent, community, and family foundations; philanthropic advisors; and donors. In its first year, its activities will include member coordination, convening, and collaborative grantmaking. Support for the collaborative advances the Performing Arts Program’s overall strategic framework.
for the NAACP Local Action Fund’s Cleaner Energy, Healthy Air, and Economic Opportunity Project
The Tides Foundation is the fiscal sponsor for a project in Michigan to garner support from African Americans for policies to reduce global warming pollution from electricity sources. Tides will work with the state conference of the NAACP to produce a new study on the health and economic benefits in African American communities of implementing recent federal Clean Air Act rules, increased renewable energy, and decreased coal-fired electricity in Michigan. The state NAACP will work with its local chapters and other allies to distribute and publicize the study's findings. This supplemental grant will add $30,000 to the existing 2012 grant of $110,000 to cover unforseen expenses and allow NAACP to take advantage of expanded outreach opportunities.
