Overview
This grant will support Advance Native Political Leadership (Advance) to build the power of Indigenous communities to determine the policies, resources, and leadership that will ensure their cultures and future generations are protected and self-determined. Indigenous women and girls face the highest rates of sexual violence in the country and lack adequate access to abortion, birth control, and other reproductive health care. Advance is increasing engagement and representation of Indigenous people in policy change through grassroots organizing, building a national resource repository of best practices for mobilizing Native American communities, and running a digital training program to increase leadership pathways for Indigenous women. (Strategy: U.S. Reproductive Equity)
