Overview
A grant to the region's foremost arts service organization, Theatre Bay Area, will enable them to conduct two series' of workshops for thirty Bay Area arts organizations to learn about, and deepen, their understanding of how social media tools can contribute to their organizational effectiveness. The "Leveraging Social Media 2.0: Becoming a Networked Non Profit" trainings will take place in 2011 and include a beginners track for 20 'novice' non profit arts organizations as well as an advanced course for 10 groups that participated in the 2010 Leveraging Social Media 1.0 course. There will also be a master class for 200 participants to gain insights on how they can be more savvy about how to use social media platforms to improve their marketing and audience development efforts. The courses will be conducted by renowned social media expert Beth Kantor who taught the first version in 2009 and is also the Technologist in Residence at the Packard Foundation. ($40,000 / 1; 14% of project budget).

Theatre Bay Area is a membership organization that builds awareness, appreciation, and support for theater in the Bay Area. Its programs include marketing, research, professional development opportunities, auditions, and grant programs that serve theaters and artists. Its annual conference draws more than 300 participants. The CA$H Theatre grant program provides grants to artists and small theater companies that support artistic projects, capacity-building activities, and public performances. Support for Theatre Bay Area’s CA$H Theatre grant program aligns with the Performing Arts Program’s Artists strategy.
