Overview
Founded in 2008, Women Fund Tanzania-Trust (WFT-T) is the first feminist and only women’s fund in Tanzania and the second in sub-Saharan Africa. Its core mission is to empower women to unlock their potential and actively participate in the transformation of their communities toward greater social justice and empowerment. As the only feminist funding mechanism in the country, WFT-T focuses on strategic grantmaking and fostering strong, supportive partnerships at both the local and national levels through supporting coalitions, movements, and cross-movement building. WFT-T is a member of the Prospera International Network of Women’s Funds and was the local host of the Climate and Gender Justice Summit that Prospera co-organized with Global Greengrants Fund and the Global Alliance for Green and Gender Action in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on September 27-29, 2024.
