A fiscally sponsored project of the Mahea Uchiyama Center of International Dance, Kaululeha Hawaiian Cultural Center teaches and presents traditional and contemporary Hawaiian dance, songs, music, crafts, textiles, regalia making, and storytelling. The project grant will support Kaululeha Hawaiian Cultural Center to create programs that support artists who sustain the arts and culture of Hawaii and other Pacific islands. Grant activities will include artist fellowships, master/apprentice training engagements, workshops and classes for the public, and performances. The grant will support the Performing Arts Program’s Artists strategy.

A fiscally sponsored project of the Mahea Uchiyama Center for International Dance, Kaululehua Hawaiian Cultural Center in South San Francisco, California, seeks to preserve and perpetuate Hawaiian cultural practices. The cultural center teaches and presents Hawaiian dance, chants, drumming, lei- and implement-making, and Hawaiian language and cultural protocol instruction. Each year, 2,000 artists, students, and community members participate in its programs, both virtually and in person. This grant, advancing the Performing Arts Program’s Artists strategy, will help Kaululehua Hawaiian Cultural Center to continue programs that support artists who sustain and advance Hawaiian cultural practices.
