Overview
Stanford Jazz Workshop offers three main programs to educate and inspire by bringing world-class jazz artists to the Bay Area each summer to teach and perform. Offerings include an annual all-ages Jazz Residency, a summer Jazz Camp for young people aged 12 to 17, and the annual Stanford Jazz Festival. The two-week camp and one-week Residency served nearly 700 participants, with scholarships available to approximately 15 percent of the student body. Financial difficulties in 2014 led the organization to focus its programming and fundraising for maximum impact, which resulted in a modest surplus in 2015. A renewal grant will support its goals to strengthen its organizational capacity, staff structure, and fundraising functions.
