Overview
Stanford Jazz Workshop offers three main programs to educate and inspire by bringing world-class jazz artists to the Bay Area each summer to teach and perform. This includes an annual all-ages Jazz Residency, a summer Jazz Camp for young people aged twelve to seventeen, and the annual Stanford Jazz Festival, which in 2012 attracted more than 9,000 attendees to thirty-five concerts. The two weeks of camp and one-week Residency served 662 participants, with scholarships available to approximately 15 percent of the student body. Beyond the Stanford campus, Stanford Jazz Workshop developed the Community Jazz Partnership to bring its faculty in to local classrooms at five schools. A renewal grant would support the organization’s goals to strengthen its relationship with Stanford University, increase year-round revenue, and make necessary infrastructure enhancements to achieve greater organizational stability.
