Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance

This is a third-year renewal to the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance. This grant would continue support for their advocacy efforts to increase efficiency investments by the Tennessee Valley Authority and its major power distribution utilities.

This is a second-year renewal to the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance, an association that promotes energy efficiency through advocacy, programs, events, and membership outreach. It brings together businesses, utilities, governments, public utilities commissions, and environmental organizations to promote energy efficient policies and practices. This grant would continue support for their advocacy efforts to increase efficiency investments by the Tennessee Valley Authority and its major distribution utilities.

The Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) promotes energy efficiency in the Southeastern region of the United States through advocacy, programs, events and membership outreach. It brings together businesses, utilities, governments, public utilities commissions, energy and environmental organizations and others to promote energy efficient policies and practices. The purpose of this grant is to support activities to increase utility investment in efficiency in the Southeast, with a particular focus on the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). As the nation's largest federal power provider and the third largest coal burning utility, a strong efficiency program at TVA has the potential to significantly impact national greenhouse gas emissions. If successful, it will also help influence similar progress among other utilities in the Southeast, which is behind most regions in such efforts. Also, because TVA has recently hired a nationally renowned leader in utility scale efficiency program, it appears to be an opportune time to support stronger capacity in the Southeast aimed at promoting this effort.
