Overview
The Sonoran Institute works to enhance the capacity of communities throughout the West to manage growth, conserve natural resources, and create prosperous, sustainable futures. This grant will support the Institute's work in the southwest desert of Arizona to protect one million acres of wilderness and to promote the appropriate siting of large scale solar energy projects. The project supports two important goals West-wide goals; the protection of roadless lands as wilderness and promoting the generation and use of renewable energy. (New, $70,000/1; 20% of project budget)
