Overview

This grant would renew work to bring together representatives of the solar industry, utilities, and conservation groups to identify solar energy development and transmission sites in the Sonoran Desert with the least environmental impact and to build support for approval of appropriately sited solar facilities. Over the last twelve months, the Institute’s work resulted in an additional 200,000 acres of public land identified as suitable for solar development and 500 megawatts of new permitted solar facilities. The Institute expects similar gains in 2013.
