Overview
The Sonoma County Economic Development Board engaged in a year-long cultural planning process to develop an Arts Action Plan, which was adopted by the County Board of Supervisors in June 2014. The plan established a new local arts agency, Creative Sonoma, seeking to support and bolster the county’s nonprofit arts community as well as for-profit creative industries. Creative Sonoma is initiating a wide range of programs, including professional development workshops, arts community forums, and new funding opportunities. A new program is proposed, Sonoma County Music Experience, which includes a one day conference, mini-grants program, and ongoing coaching with music professional consultants.

Grants to this Grantee
for Wine Country Fire Relief
Creative Sonoma is a program of Sonoma County Economic Development Board Foundation. Through trainings and workshops, convenings, one-on-one consulting, partnerships, and advocacy for arts education, Creative Sonoma is dedicated to advancing and supporting the creative community of Sonoma County. In 2017, Creative Sonoma established the Fire Recovery and Response Grants, a fund for artists and arts organizations affected by the North Bay wildfires in October 2017. This grant will augment the work of the Fire Recovery and Response Grants, and help Creative Sonoma recover from the devastating fires.
for the Creative Sonoma Recovery fund
Creative Sonoma, a program of Sonoma County Economic Development Board Foundation, has established a fund for artists and arts organizations impacted by the North Bay wildfires in October 2017. The Creative Sonoma Recovery Fund is dedicated to collecting and disseminating relief funds to serve the immediate needs of the creative community, specifically resident musicians, artists, designers, and others who contribute to the beauty and vitality of Sonoma County. Funds are available to individuals who are residents of Sonoma County for immediate and short-term basic human and art related needs, including but not limited to shelter, medications, art supplies, and instruments.
for an arts education assessment and strategic plan
Creative Sonoma will partner with Sonoma County Office of Education, Community Foundation Sonoma County, and Arts Education Alliance of Sonoma County to conduct a countywide arts education assessment and strategic planning process. The assessment will include a professionally designed survey of key stakeholders including teachers, administrators, arts organizations, teaching artists, funders, parents and students. Once the survey data has been analyzed, the partners will work together to prioritize the most critical findings, and develop a strategic plan for addressing them with the help of an external consultant. At the end of this two-year comprehensive process, partners throughout the county will have a strategic framework to ensure all students have access to arts education opportunities.
