for support of the Smith College Initiative for Human Rights and Democracy
The Smith College Initiative for Human Rights and Democracy is the culmination of two years of collaborative envisioning and conceptualizingy MacArthur “genius” award winner Professor Loretta Ross and nonprofit leader Carrie Cuthbert, J.D., aligned with the college’s mission to develop “engaged global citizens and leaders to address society's challenges” and will build on the college’s storied human rights history, which includes its foundational mission to offer higher education to women, its advocacy for suffrage, and its present-day work to advance race and gender equity.
