Overview
The Silicon Valley Community Foundation is a key partner of the Great Communities Collaborative, a joint founders effort to implement low-carbon and equitable transit-oriented development in the Bay Area. The main goals of the Collaborative are to change the trajectory of urban growth in the Bay Area and be consistent with the 80 percent reduction of emissions in the state by 2050. This includes building new homes and communities, at affordable prices, near transit, and with access to recreation and open space. The Silicon Valley Community Foundation will focus on San Jose’s Diridon Station area, where there is an opportunity to merge better transit with affordable housing and good jobs as part of the redevelopment of the area.
