Overview
Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA) provides research and counsel on charitable giving, develops philanthropic programs, and offers complete program, administrative, and management services for foundations and trusts. RPA anticipates establishing a sponsored project fund--the Assessment Implementation Network--with the goal of ensuring adoption of student assessments of Common Core State Standards aligned to Deeper Learning in 10-15 bellwether states. This planning grant provides $50,000 to support design of the Network, which would be composed of state-based advocacy groups and other organizations who will work to influence and support policy makers in their implementation of new assessments. Successful implementation and use of the results of Common Core tests--particularly the tests built by the PARCC and Smarter Balanced multi-state assessment consortia--is a key milestone in ensuring the ultimate goal of Hewlett's Education Program: that 15% of US students tested on deeper learning by 2017.
