Overview
The federal government recently announced the POWER+ program, which makes up to $38 million in federal grants available to non-profit organizations and local governments for economic diversification and workforce development in coal mining and coal plant communities that are transitioning away from coal. In response, the Rockefeller Family Fund created the Just Transition Fund to pool and re-grant funds to organizations in impacted communities to enable them to rapidly respond to this time-limited opportunity to apply for federal funding. The fund will also support cross-state convening and sharing of best practices, including efforts to use federal economic development funds to leverage additional public and private investment.

for the Budget Accountability Project
This grant would focus on educating key communities about the role that fossil subsidies play in the tax and fiscal arena. Rockefeller Family Fund plans to take the story developed by Taxpayers for Common Sense, which opposes fossil subsidies, and relay it to targeted audiences across the U.S.
