Overview
Robert Moses’ Kin is a contemporary dance company that uses movement as the medium through which race, class, culture, and gender can voice the existence of humanity’s greater potential and unfulfilled possibilities. Through its performances, studio-based workshops, and outreach programs, the company annually reaches more than 2,500 people in the Bay Area and beyond. Support for Robert Moses’ Kin will enable the organization to continue to explore new programming and presenting formats, collaborate with Bay Area artists to create new work, develop new community outreach programs, and build administrative and board capacity.

for general operating support
Located in San Francisco, Robert Moses’ Kin is considered one of the most prolific and exciting contemporary dance companies in the region. The company reaches more than 3,500 people locally and nationally, while in-studio workshops serve more than 800 youth and adult dancers annually. Support for Robert Moses’ Kin is essential to continue its sustainability efforts, and would allow the organization time and space for continued artistic excellence and production of new work.
for general operating support
Robert Moses’ Kin has had a prolific artistic trajectory, premiering more than ninety works by its founder and artistic director, ranging from neoclassical ballet to issues-based postmodern movement theater. The company reaches more than 3,600 audience members through its annual home season and national touring. In addition, it offers a diverse range of classes and workshops that train more than 800 dancers each year.
for strategic planning
Artistic Director Robert Moses founded Robert Moses’ Kin (RMK) (San Francisco, CA) in 1995 to explore his choreographic style and to create dances that speak to our times. Since that inception, RMK has had a prolific artistic trajectory, premiering more than 90 works, ranging from neoclassical ballet to issues-based postmodern movement theatre. Recognizing the need to improve organizational and financial operations, RMK recently hired an experienced new Executive Director, Michelle Witt, who will be in charge of managing the organization’s new phase of growth.
The proposed strategic planning process will help the company develop a three-year plan that incorporates artistic and organizational goals and strategies to accomplish them. Key project deliverables include artistic, fundraising, and board development plans, as well as an operational plan.
