Public Health Institute

For The Adolescent Sexual Health Policy Project

Overview
The Public Health Institute, one of the nation's most comprehensive public health organizations, continues to lead its field in research and innovation. This project seeks to promote the sexual and reproductive health of adolescents and young adults in California by reducing birth rates, sexually transmitted infections, and demographic and geographic disparities in sexual health. It aims to produce and gain media coverage for rigorous, credible, policy-oriented research in order to improve state, local, and school district-level policies affecting adolescent sexual health. Over the past two years, research from this project has gained national attention, and technical support from this project has strongly influenced several school districts to move from abstinence-only to comprehensive sex education.
