Overview
Public Advocates focuses on increasing public transit, affordable housing, and environmental justice through work in the Bay Area and on state policy. This grant would complement the set of grants focused on Bay Area implementation of SB375 (California’s policy for urban planning that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions). During this grant period, Public Advocates would complete the development of congestion management agencies’ strategies and coordinate their implementation within Bay Area Cities.

Public Advocates is a nonprofit law firm and advocacy organization. With this grant, Public Advocates will assist local community and district efforts to effectively implement the new accountability system for the neediest students. Public Advocates will provide positive examples of how the accountability system is helping students, which will encourage state policymakers to maintain and improve it.
