Overview
This supplemental grant will support Population Action International to provide civil society organizations in Francophone West Africa with funding and assistance to develop locally owned advocacy campaigns and strategies in support of better policies for family planning and reproductive health. Over five years, the organization will expand and deepen advocacy work and partnerships in Francophone West Africa, and further support the growth and development of strong civil society champions. This grant supplements one made earlier this year to Population Action International to support similar work in two Anglophone countries in sub-Saharan Africa: Malawi and Zambia.

Grants to this Grantee
for an evaluation of PAI's social accountability work
Population Action International (PAI) is a nonprofit organization that advocates for policies that ensure women’s reproductive health and rights and well-being. This grant is for a project to evaluate whether the tracking of public financial resources for family planning products and services has led to strengthened budget advocacy and in turn, any changes to government spending on family planning in Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. Learning from this evaluation will be shared across PAI’s partner network and with practitioners in the reproductive health and transparency, participation, and accountability fields. (Strategy: Transparency, Participation, and Accountability)
