Overview
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is America’s oldest and largest nongovernmental reproductive health organization. Through its network of eighty-four affiliates across the country, it provides health services to 3 million people each year and also plays a critical role in improving access to family planning and reproductive health and advancing a positive policy agenda. In the prior grant term, PPFA was an important force supporting the enactment of health care reform, which dramatically improves access to family planning services. Through this campaign and the current effort to defend federal funding for family planning, PPFA has significantly expanded its base of supporters. It has also made major improvements in centralizing the collection of financial and services data and in strengthening its national board of directors. These and other changes have made PPFA stronger than it has been in a decade. This unrestricted grant would enable PPFA to continue mobilizing its large network of supporters to promote and defend reproductive rights and strengthening the capacity of its health centers to deliver cost-effective reproductive health care services. A separate project grant on this docket recommends support for PPFA’s international programs.

Grants to this Grantee
for general operating support
Planned Parenthood Federation of America provides health care to millions of people nationally each year. It also educates and mobilizes a growing network of supporters to promote and protect reproductive rights; provides legal defense against laws that weaken women’s access to abortion and birth control; and develops technological advances that improve access to, and streamline the provision of, health care and information. (Strategy: U.S. Reproductive Equity)
for support of Planned Parenthood Federation of America's international program
Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s international program, Planned Parenthood Global, provides funding and technical assistance for reproductive health advocacy, education, and services through partnerships with nongovernmental organizations in sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. This grant will support Planned Parenthood Global’s efforts to develop the capacity of these partners to advocate for better reproductive health policies, particularly in East and West Africa. It is aligned with the Global Reproductive Equity strategy.
