Overview
PACE is a membership network of foundations and funders that invest in civic engagement and democracy. Members share a belief that America will be more healthy, successful, resilient, and productive if democracy is strong and the office of citizen is treated as central to how it functions. PACE’s mission is to inspire interest, understanding, and investment in civic engagement within philanthropy and to be a voice for philanthropy in larger conversations taking place in the fields of civic engagement, service, and democratic practice. This work aims to uncover the value of civic engagement and democratic practice. The network seeks to understand and showcase why it matters and is worthy of philanthropic investment.

for general operating support
Philanthropy for Active Civic Engagement (PACE) is a membership network of foundations and funders that invest in civic engagement and democratic practice. PACE’s mission is to serve as a philanthropic laboratory to help funders maximize their impact on democracy and civic life in the United States. It helps its members learn and find opportunities for collaboration and experimentation — and to do this in ways that model vibrant civic space. PACE’s priority areas of focus are advancing civic education and learning, addressing bridging and polarization, and understanding perceptions related to the language and concepts of democracy.
for support of the Funders’ Summit
Philanthropy for Active Civic Engagement (PACE) is a philanthropic laboratory for funders seeking to maximize their impact on democracy and civic life in the U.S. This grant will provide support for PACE, in partnership with the Democracy Funders Network, to host a convening for funders to discuss the root causes of the problems limiting the efficacy of our governing institutions and to explore strategies for strengthening them. The goal of the summit is to provide an opportunity for funders to learn, to place issues of effective governance within the broader ecosystem of threats to the health of American democracy, and to grow the community of funders invested in this issue.
