Penn State

For Collaborative Doctoral Training And Research Mentorship At The Population Research Institute

The Population Research Institute at Pennsylvania State University works in partnership with the Regional Institute for Population Studies at the University of Ghana (also a Hewlett grantee) to enhance the doctoral training of African scholars. This grant will continue support for Penn State to train three top doctoral candidates from the Ghana-based Institute. At Penn State, they will receive intensive dissertation mentorship and access to course work in advanced methodologies currently unavailable at their home institution. Following the year at the Population Research Institute, fellows return to Africa to complete their doctoral programs, having developed research relationships that will support their early career development.
