Grants to this Grantee
for engaging doctors in Los Angeles to advocate for clean air
Part of the Los Angeles County Medical Association, the Patient Care Foundation of Los Angeles County was started by physicians concerned about the health impacts of freight movement. The organization's physician-members participate in regional, state, and federal air quality committees, train other physicians about ways to reduce pollution's impacts, and contribute their persuasive and respected opinions to policy debates. Working with other air pollution advocates, the Patient Care Foundation will pursue a long-term goal of reducing particulate pollution levels from freight movement in the region and the state. Their intermediate goal is to encourage physicians to increase their advocacy efforts with air quality policymakers to address the most serious sources of pollution.
