New America Media, (NAM), founded in 1966, is headquartered in San Francisco, with offices in Fresno, Los Angeles and Washington DC. It is a national, multi-channel news and communications organization of and for ethnic media, dedicated to bringing the voices of immigrant and ethnic communities into the national discourse. This grant will assist NAM improve their PR capacity and social marketing expertise and train their staff on how to better pitch their services. Ultimately, this will help NAM build their subscription base, recruit more ethnic media to their network, promote their directory and generate more advertising revenue.

NAM intends to strengthen its school reform news beat by increasing the quality and quantity of education stories published by California ethnic media. It will support fellowships and offer increased editorial assistance to produce top-quality articles. NAM also intends to partner with local education advocacy groups to build their visibility and connections with ethnic media.
