Grants to this Grantee
for establishing a review process for the sustainable development goals
The Overseas Development Institute’s Growth, Poverty and Inequality program focuses on research and policy advice in support of human development outcomes. The program uses quantitative and qualitative research methods to understand how the very poorest are affected by economic change, how both national and global policy processes can meet people’s needs, and how people’s own priorities and values can inform policy processes and analysis. During the grant period, the program will have a particular focus on informing the establishment, implementation, and monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals.
for a report to contribute to the policy debate on economic effects of unpaid care work
The Overseas Development Institute would use this support to produce a global report on paid and unpaid child care. The report would highlight the critical need for aligned policy and programmatic action to improve women and children’s well-being, and to alleviate individual, household, and national economic and social costs. This work is an outcome of the My World survey, conducted to give voice to local people around the world in the development of a post-2015 global policy framework. That survey uncovered strong demand for better child care options so that women could achieve their work aspirations.
