The Open Space Institute’s Outdoors America Campaign is a broad-based effort to educate the public about the benefits of conserving public and private land. This supplemental grant will support the Institute’s work to conduct media outreach and build a broad coalition of partners and supporters around the recreational, ecological, and economic benefits of conserving working lands, parks, and forests, as well as American history, cultural treasures, and clean water on our public lands.

Grants to this Grantee
for the Outdoors America Campaign
This renewal grant would continue support for the Open Space Institute’s Outdoors America Campaign. Launched in 2009, this campaign is a broad-based effort to educate policymakers, citizens, and the media about the benefits of a consistent, dedicated federal fund for the purchase of ecologically important land in the West and beyond. This initiative teaches decision makers and the public about the myriad benefits of preserving open space and the vital role of federal funding in acquiring land in all economic climates.
for the public funding for land conservation project
The Open Space Institute (OSI) works to protect scenic, natural, and historic landscapes to ensure public enjoyment, conserve habitat, and sustain community character. This renewal grant would support the organization’s work as part of the Outdoors America Coalition, an effort to educate policymakers, citizens, and the media about the need for a reliable, steady source of federal funds for the purchase of ecologically important land in the West and beyond. The ultimate goal of the Outdoors America Coalition is to ensure that approximately $1 billion in public funds are available each year for land protection. OSI would use this grant to build support among decisionmakers and the public and coordinate with other conservation organizations with similar public funding goals.
